Before the First Wet Clean of a New Commercial Floor: Get an Installer Release

A newly installed floor may look ready while its adhesive system still carries cleaning or traffic restrictions. Before a mop, scrubber or furniture cart enters, ask the flooring installer to identify the installed product, adhesive and permitted first-cleaning method. The useful handoff is a release for specific rooms and tasks, rather than a general statement that flooring is finished.

Do not turn one waiting period into a rule for the building

For example, Tarkett’s April 2026 Lotus Reserve instructions specify waiting 72 hours after installation before initial cleaning. The same document separately restricts traffic and heavy rolling loads. That is a product-specific example, not permission to clean every vinyl floor after three days. Use the current instructions for the exact flooring and adhesive installed at your project; ask the installer to resolve any conflict before cleaning.

Do not calculate readiness from the delivery date, the day a room first looked complete or the age of a neighboring floor. A later repair, replaced plank or newly finished section may have a different release time. Mark those areas separately rather than applying one date to an entire suite.

Create a short release record for each room or zone

This is a coordination record, not a curing test or a warranty certificate. A cleaning provider should not certify adhesive cure from appearance, touch or a quick mop trial. If the installed system is not identified, hold the affected task and ask the project lead to obtain the information.

Check the route, not just the floor being cleaned

A ready room may be reachable only through a restricted corridor. Include the access route and equipment staging area in the release discussion. Confirm whether the proposed machine or loaded cart is permitted on every surface along that route. Move the appointment or choose an approved alternative when access is still restricted; do not cross a protected area simply to reach another room.

For Lotus Reserve, Tarkett also warns against nonporous protection that can interfere with adhesive drying. That warning illustrates why protection must be approved for the installed system. Ask the installer who removes the covering and when. Do not improvise with plastic, tape or boards because the cleaning crew needs access.

Separate ordinary cleaning from installation defects

Document loose edges, displaced seams, adhesive deposits and visible damage before starting the agreed clean. Give those conditions to the installer or project lead rather than trying a stronger chemical or different pad. A small approved cleaning test does not authorize adhesive removal, repair or restoration. Unknown dust or suspect hazardous material needs the project’s qualified assessment before disturbance.

When a room is released, follow its approved first-cleaning sequence and keep the method consistent. Inspect the result before proceeding to another floor type. Record unresolved conditions and any rooms held back so a completion report does not imply that restricted areas were cleaned.

Book the work around readiness

For an office renovation or commercial handoff in Orange County, Chino Hills, Chino, Ontario, Corona or Eastvale, give JLV your property city and the rooms ready for cleaning. Add the release record or summarize the restrictions during follow-up. Cleaning scope and availability are reviewed before work is accepted; a quote request does not reserve a date. Installer release does not replace building inspections or hazardous-material clearance.
